The options and costs for traditional casket interment or entombment vary by type and location. Options include graves, lawn crypts and indoor & outdoor mausoleums; as well as green burial options, which have been available since the fall of 2011. Purchase of a Right of Interment of a designated space does not include the following: service charges - to include administration and interment fees, memorialization (flat or upright markers) and outer burial interment containers (required at both Mt. Calvary & Gethsemani Cemeteries).
Purchase of a burial plot is actually a purchase of a right to be buried in a particular space, a Right of Interment. Ownership of the land stays with the cemetery and there is no actual transfer of a deed or land title.
The fee for the use of a burial plot varies depending on location and number of people being placed in a particular location. Areas with significant views tend to be in the higher price range.
Prices range from $1000 to $4,500 not including interment fees, headstones or outer burial containers. Graves require the use of an outer burial container generally made from concrete, these containers are required to keep the earth from settling on the grave.
Above ground entombment in our mausoleums offers a setting that is usually more protected from the weather. At Mt. Calvary there are both indoor and outdoor (covered but exposed to the outside) mausoleum options available, while Gethsemani offers only an outdoor mausoleum option. Prices in the mausoleums vary based on crypt row height and location, with eye-level crypts being the most expensive.
Prices range from $1,700 to $7,600 for a single crypt and $4,100 to $16,500 for a double crypt. Many people are surprised to find that entombment in a crypt can be more cost effective than ground burial. This is partially due to the fact that no concrete interment container is required.
Lawn crypts are pre-placed concrete burial containers and are typically set up for two interments - one container above the other (stacked). The first interment in a lawn crypt is always done in the bottom container of the two. The pre-placement of these container boxes is in the areas where there is limited land available for interments. Lawn crypts are placed on a bed of gravel which allows for good drainage, this minimizes the amount of standing water below ground. Prices for lawn crypts range from $5,900 to $16,500 - and do not include interment fees and memorialization costs.
Private family estate lawn crypts with space for four are also available.
