Wesley James Allen, born April 18, 1947, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2024, at the age of 77. Wes was a cherished father, devoted husband, loving grandfather, and a dear friend to many. His life was a testament to his unwavering kindness, generosity, and dedication to his loved ones.
Wes met his first wife, Debra Rinella, in 1971, and they were married a year later. Together, they raised three children: Wayne, Annette, and Carolyn. Debra’s courageous battle with colon cancer ended in 1995, and Wes faced this profound loss with great strength and resilience.
In 2000, Wes found love again and married Debbi Villani. With Debbi, he blended their families, warmly welcoming her sons Allan and Charlie into his life. The union of these families was a source of immense joy and fulfillment for Wes, who embraced his role as a stepfather and continued to support and nurture his expanded family with the same love and dedication he had always shown.
Wes was the proud grandfather of 15 grandchildren, who were a source of immense joy and pride for him. His legacy lives on through them and the countless memories they shared together.
Wes had a distinguished career as an electronics engineer, a field in which he was deeply passionate. His work was marked by a strong work ethic and innovation, and he retired in 2012 after a successful and fulfilling career. Wes took pride in his professional accomplishments and was respected by all who had the privilege of working with him.
Outside of his professional life, Wes was known for his vibrant hobbies and community involvement. An avid ham radio enthusiast, he found joy in connecting with others through the airwaves. His love for skiing led him to serve on the Mt. Hood Ski Patrol, where he contributed to the safety and enjoyment of fellow skiers. Wes also enjoyed camping and had a deep commitment to the Boy Scouts of America, where he volunteered his time to mentor and guide young scouts.
A memorial service to celebrate Wes’s life will be held on October 4, 2024 @ 11am at St Matthew Catholic Church in Hillsboro (not a full mass). Friends and family are invited to join in honoring a man who brought so much joy and love into the world and to share their cherished memories of him.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the ARRL (American Radio Relay League), The American Heart Association, The Brian Grant Parkinson's Foundation, or Providence Hospice -- causes that were close to Wes’s heart.
Wes will be dearly missed but fondly remembered for his loving spirit, his generosity, and the many ways he made the world a better place. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
