Timothy Stephen Farrell passed away Tuesday February 4, 2025, at St. Vincent’s Hospital after a lengthy illness with two of his brothers at his side. His death follows his late parents Ronald and Elizabeth and his older brother Dan. He leaves behind his four brothers: Dewey, Dean, Jim, and Barney as well as five nieces and nephews along with five great nieces and nephews.
Tim was born September 2, 1958, at St. Vincent’s Hospital and lived in the Beaverton area his entire life. As a child, Tim survived mononucleosis that forced him to repeat first grade. This bothered him so he applied himself academically and graduated a year early from Jesuit Tree of Learning. Tim was active in sports. He played football, baseball and soccer while in school and coached youth soccer after graduating.
A mental health crisis in his early 20’s nearly cost him his life and he was eventually diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia. This made it hard for him to stay at any one job very long. He worked at a recycling plant, machine shop, and Blue Ribbon Sports (Nike) and worked with his brother Jim at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. However, his favorite job was being a roofer, and he never hesitated to help family and friends with home repair projects, happily strapping on his roofing belt, whenever the need arose.
A somewhat solitary man, Tim is remembered as a devout Christian and a meticulous perfectionist with a very generous personality. Never a rich man, he still found a way to donate monthly to a Haitian children’s orphanage.
Services for Tim will be held Friday March 14th at Gethsemani Cemetery. Reception will be at 10:00 A.M., Chapel Service at 11:00. Burial at 2:30 P.M. at Mt. Calvary Cemetery at his parents grave site.
