Obituary for Seung Hee Kim

In everyone's heart

After my passing,

I want to be remembered with a pretty smile,

Like the Spring sunlight that warms your heart.

After my passing,

I want to be remembered as an entertainer,

Who always made people laugh.

When you think of me, you can’t help but smile,

Even while crying.

I want to be remembered as the sweetness in life.

After my passing,

I want to be remembered as an oasis in the desert.

Escape from your thirst and walk towards hope,

Let me be remembered in this way.

- Seung Hee Kim (Jenovefa), written on 9/2/2019

The world lost a beloved mother and grandmother, Seung Hee Kim (Jenovefa), on her 76th birthday, February 12, 2024. Seung Hee passed away due to medical complications and internal bleeding after receiving brain surgery in November of last year. But it never stopped her from radiating her positivity and bright smile. Seung Hee took her last breath in a nursing home surrounded by her daughters and a son-in-law, Yung Sook, Myung Sook, Eunkyung, and Dong Joon. Before her passing, she was able to see her two granddaughters, Adelle and Stella, as well as meet her two other granddaughters, Euna and Eunbe, in years prior. Seung Hee was born in Jeju City, South Korea on February 12, 1948. She was raised by her loving parents and always adored reading and learning with her unstoppable curiosity. She earned a degree in pharmacy and then married her husband with her father’s wish.

Seung Hee was a devoted mother of four (Yungsook, Myungsook, Yongseok, and Eunkyung) and a wife, who provided her full support for her husband’s passion for treating patients like family. She helped run the family clinic in Jeju, South Korea, for over 30 years. Her friends knew her as a kind soul, always willing to cheer them up with her humor and positivity. She had a big heart, filled with compassion. She donated her time and money to help her siblings, friends, and people in need.  She prayed consistently for her family and friends. As her prayer list grew, her day became filled with prayers.  She loved traveling, cooking, listening to Gwen Stefani and ABBA, writing poems, and sharing all of these experiences with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bang Lim, and both her parents.
