It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ryan David McCready on October 4, 2024, at the age of 47. Ryan was born on May 23, 1977 in Portland, OR, to Gary McCready and Michelle (Whaley) Heath. Ryan was a cherished son, brother, and father who will forever be remembered for his fierce dedication as a father, family member and friend.
Ryan’s greatest pride and passion was his 9-year-old son, Caleb. He was active with Caleb’s sports teams, which most recently was Rose City fall baseball. Father and son could be found practicing pitching or batting practice most days when they weren’t enjoying some other active pursuit. The bond between father and son was strong and this is a devastating loss.
Ryan was a proud NE Portland guy and avid University of Oregon, Blazers, and Timbers fan. He grew up in the Beaumont-Wilshire neighborhood where he played Wilshire Little League baseball and Hollywood Soccer where he proudly played on the A-Team. One of Ryan’s greatest attributes is that he maintained friendships and connections with childhood teammates and friends.
Ryan graduated from Grant High School in 1995. He excelled on the links and was a member of the Grant Golf Team all four years of high school.
Ryan is survived by his son Caleb McCready, father Gary McCready (Sandy), mother Michelle Heath (Curt), brothers Kevin McCready (Angela) and Brendon McCready, sister Cassie McCready, and nephew Ian McCready.
A celebration of Life for Ryan will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2024 from 5pm-8pm at the McMenamins Kennedy School located at 5736 NE 33rd Ave, Portland, OR 97211.
In remembrance of Ryan, a college fund has been established for his son Caleb McCready. Instead of flowers, those wishing to honor Ryan's memory may contribute to this fund by writing a check in the name of Caleb McCready and mailing C/O Gary McCready, 4464 NE Alameda St, Portland, OR 97213
