Rodney Peloquin, just shy of 92, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2024.
Born in Fort Francis, Ontario, Canada, Rod was a kind and gentle soul with a quick wit. He moved to Oregon with his mother, Rose Ann, and father, Leo Paul, where he lived in North Portland. He attended Central Catholic High School and went on to graduate from University of Portland, and was a member of the golf team at both schools.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany. Forever an athlete, he was an active member of the volleyball and ping pong team while stationed abroad. Rod had a passion for finance, working at Tektronix, Frye Electronics, and was a founding member of First Tech Credit Union.
Rod married his wife, Sharon D’Arcy in 1961. Together, they had 4 children. Sharon passed away in 1992. In 1996, he married Beverly Prescott.
A lover of the outdoors, he enjoyed fishing, gardening, and caring for and feeding multitudes of hummingbirds. As an accomplished golfer, Rod had 7 hole-in-ones. Rod was a devoted family man, cherished by his wives, children, grandchildren, and as of recent – his great grandchildren. He was a devout Catholic and longtime member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. Anytime the Boston Red Sox were playing, Rod would be in his chair, cheering on his team.
Rod is survived by his loving wife, Beverly and his children Paul (Donna) Peloquin, Michele (John) Wiitala, Sharon (Eric) Jaeckle, and Shannon (Michael) Blankenship. Rod was adored and loved by his 10 grandchildren: Conner, Casey (Victoria), Tristan, Brenna, Bradley, and Galen Peloquin; Elliot (Sydnee) Wiitala; Emily-Rose (Mark) Galati; Mackenzie (Branden) Vennes; and Jason Blankenship. In the final years of his life, Rod’s greatest joy was brought to him by his great grandchildren: Maevery Peloquin, Leo Galati, and Harper Wiitala.
Donations can be made in Rod’s memory to Doernbecher Children's Hospital Patient Care and Comfort Fund. Please use this link to donate in lieu of flowers: donate.ohsufoundation.org/Peloquin
