Robert Rooney Freeman

Freeman, Robert Rooney, 82, of Happy Valley, OR, formerly of Portland, OR. Survived by his wife, Barbara M. Freeman.

Father of Jennifer Freeman of Seattle; Alanna O’Brien and her husband Gerry of Portland and their children Aidan, Finbar, and Declan; Molly Daudelin of Portland and her children Dorothy, Clare, and Bernadette; Rob Freeman and his wife Jane of McKinney, TX and their children Brendan, Campbell, and Connor; and Rose Malouf and her husband DW and their children Buddy, Jake, and Ellie. Brother of John Freeman, Monica Freeman, Patti Migliazzo and the late Kathy Brown. 

Bob was a loyal husband, supportive father, and proud grandfather. He was known as a generous entertainer, and he loved spending time with friends and family at holidays, family vacations, and impromptu get-togethers. He was an avid golfer throughout his life, and he was known for his sense of style. 

Bob was a native Californian, born in Los Angeles in 1942, the second child of John and Mabel Freeman. He was a proud member of the class of 1960 at Loyola High School of Los Angeles, and he went on to earn degrees from Loyola University and the University of Southern California. Catholic education was a priority throughout Bob’s life, as he put all five of his own children through school at Notre Dame, Holy Cross, Santa Clara, and Gonzaga. 

Bob married Barbara in 1966 at St. Brendan’s Church in Los Angeles, and they recently celebrated 58 years of marriage. 

Bob’s work as a CFO took him to a variety of homes in both Northern and Southern California. He especially loved his time in Los Altos at St. Simon Parish, where all five of his children attended school. In his later years, he and Barbara moved to Portland, Oregon, to be closer to family. 

Funeral mass on Saturday, August 24th, at 11:00 at St. Ignatius Church, 3400 SE 43rd Ave, Portland, OR, 97206. Relatives and friends are all welcome.
