Richard Clyde Zimmerman

Dr. Richard C. Zimmerman, 92, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on September 11, 2024 in Portland, Oregon.

Richard was born and raised in La Grande, Oregon on January 17, 1932 to Doyle and Irma Zimmerman. Richard was the oldest of 2 sons. He attended High School in La Grande, then attended college at the University of Oregon as a Phi Delta Theta, graduating in 3 years as a Junior. He then went on to attend and graduate from the University of Oregon's Residency Program, specializing in Orthopedic Joint Replacement. Throughout his career he was one of the leading Orthopedic Surgeons in the Northwest, and has many honors for his accomplishments in performing surgeries, amongst many other honors. He was dedicated to sharing his knowledge of Orthopedics to so many around the United States.

Richard's love for his family and love of life meant everything to him. Richard leaves behind his wife of 40 years, Linda Zimmerman; His children, Jane Zimmerman, John (and Jessie Ramey) Zimmerman, Karla Zimmerman; his stepchildren, David (and Jacki) Hunt, Kari (and Dave) Mackay, Kevin (and Nikki) Hunt; 10 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren.

Richard was predeceased in death by his parents, Doyle and Irma Zimmerman; his younger brother, Robert Zimmerman; his sons Bob Zimmerman and Peter Zimmerman and his stepson, Darin Hunt.
