Peter Pomykala was born on June 29th, 1952 in Rzeczyca Okragla, the countryside in Poland. He was born to his parents, Feliks and Helena Pomykala. Peter was the oldest of three children, Elzbieta and Zbigniew. At the age of 24 he married the love of his life, Jadwiga Maczka. Together they had three children, Anna, Mariusz and Leszek. Peter was courageous, ambitious, and not afraid of taking risks. There was nothing he wouldn't do for his family. Therefore, in 1993, Peter decided to relocate the entire family from Poland to Portland, Oregon. He wanted a great future and countless opportunities for the family, but particularly, for his children.
Peter worked many jobs before realizing his dream of running his own construction company. Therefore, he took more risks and pursued his dreams. His dreams came to fruition, and until the end of his life he was a proud owner of Polonia Construction.
Peter was a joyful and happy man. He was a wonderful husband, a proud father and a loving grandfather. He loved to tell stories of his youth at the dinner table, and shortly after engage in play with his little grandson, Damian. Peter loved to stay active. He traveled the world with his wife, and he was easily swayed by his daughter to go on a hike. In his downtime, he enjoyed working in the backyard, which he joking called his "little Hawaii." Peter was positive and uplifting, and always had words of encouragement for his family and friends. He made friends easily. Even employees at his favorite Home Depot knew him by his first name. Peter had a curious mind, and in his off time he liked to relax with a book in his hand.
On January 6th, 2018 the Lord called him Home. He passed suddenly and peaceful in his home in Happy Valley.
Peter will be missed dearly by his closest family, friends, and the entire Polish community.
"May the wind always be at your back
and the sun upon your face,
And may the winds of destiny carry you aloft
to dance with the stars."
Rest in Peace until we see you again! We love you forever!
