Nicole SooMin DeWolf died on January 3, 2025 at the age of 38 at her home in Portland. Nicole was born on October 29, 1987, in South Korea, and arrived in the arms of her parents, Jacqueline and Michael DeWolf, in March 1988. Nicole was raised in Portland, where she attended grade school and graduated from Franklin High School.
Nicole was a warm and generous soul who loved to help others in need. Her kindness knew no bounds, and her smile had the power to light up any room. More than just a beautiful smile, Nicole had a way of making everyone around her smile, too. She was not just a loved one—she was a daughter, a best friend, and to many, she was like a sister or aunt.
Nicole’s love for life was contagious, and her presence filled her home with warmth and joy. Though she may no longer be with us, her memory will forever remain in our hearts. We will deeply miss her every day, but we take comfort in knowing her spirit lives on in the love she gave and the lives she touched.
Nicole loved school, sang like a bird, excelled in Special Olympics track and field and TaekWonDo, enjoyed horseback riding, and maintained close friendships with classmates her whole life.
Nicole left us suddenly, her family and friends heartbroken by the loss. She was a bright light that will shine forever!
A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 17, at 12:30 pm, at Gethsemani Funeral Home and Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to PHAME, an arts and performance nonprofit that Nicole loved: www.phamepdx.org
