Ngoi “Mary” Nguyen passed away at the age of 90 in her home, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on August 12th, 1933 in Hanoi, Haiphong, Vietnam.
In 1948, Ngoi met her husband Huan “Vincent” Nguyen. In 1975, they fled their homeland during the fall of Saigon. With their children, they embarked on a journey that led them to the United States. They eventually settled in Beaverton, Oregon, where they found a place to call home.
To her family, Ngoi’s compassion and selflessness was what made her an extraordinary mom/grandmother/great-grandmother. She opened her home to everyone in need and showed her love for her friends and family through her cooking and generosity. Her philanthropy work included supporting Catholic Orphanages in Vietnam and those who sought medical services but were unable to pay.
Ngoi’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. She was an active member of the Catholic Church and her hobbies included gardening, watching YouTube videos of car chases and food, and laughing with her family.
Her legacy will continue to live on through her 13 children, 29 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held at Springer and Son on March 4th from 2pm -4pm. Funeral service to honor Ngoi Nguyen will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church on March 5th at 11:00 am.
