Nancy Ann Wilson passed away peacefully in Portland, Oregon on Saturday, March 2, 2024, after battling cognitive impairment with contentment, grace, and peace. She was 92. Born to Frank and Clara Reverman on April 28, 1931, she was the youngest of four children: her late sister, Florence Hayes, late brother Robert Reverman, and surviving sister Margaret Watzig.
Nancy's early years were spent in the close-knit community surrounding Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She attended elementary school there before continuing her high school education at St. Mary’s Academy, graduating in 1949. Following her education, she trained at a comptometer school, utilizing her skills at Shell Oil until she married Donald R. Wilson. During the early years of marriage, she worked at Zippo Logging Mill in Eugene.
Nancy and Don's love story began when her brother introduced her to his fellow Portland University friend, before Don served his country in the Korean War. Upon returning, they were wed on September 11, 1954, and moved to Eugene for Don’s tenure at University of Oregon Law School. They returned to Portland and were blessed with seven children: Tony (Julie), the late Laurie, the late Nick (Suni), Mike (Annette), Sharon (John), Diane, and Marie (Chris). Nancy was not only a devoted wife and mother but also a beloved grandmother to fifteen grandchildren, Chris, Alex, Anissa, Stephanie, Kelly, Brianna, Kristen, Jack, Michelle, Caleb, Luke, Zachary, Aidan, Sofia and Ora.
Nancy's greatest joy was spending time with her family and close friends. She enjoyed volunteering, painting, sewing, cooking, and planning and organizing large family gatherings and activities. Nancy's faith in Jesus Christ was evident in her daily life, and expressed in prayer, Bible studies, and attending her Catholic parishes. Throughout her life, Nancy's easy laugh, gratitude, contentment, and sweetness touched the lives of all who knew her.
Her family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated caregivers who provided comfort and support for her over the past eight years. A funeral to celebrate Nancy's life will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church on March 18th at 11 am, with a reception immediately following. Family and friends are welcome to attend.
