Murray Clyde Ahlquist was born in St. Louis, MO on November 16, 1948, to Clyde and Marian Ahlquist. He was the middle son, between older brother, John, and younger brother, Jim. Murray was raised in Shrewsbury, MO. He graduated from McBride High School in 1967 and attended the University of Missouri for two years. In 1970, Murray married Sandy Taylor, and soon after was drafted into the U.S. Army and served for three years. The majority of his service was spent stationed in Germany where he and Sandy resided for two-and-one-half years.
In 1972, Murray was honorably discharged and the couple returned to Shrewsbury, where Murray attended UMSL and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics. In 1976, they moved to Portland, OR. For over twenty years, Murray’s career centered on developing, implementing and supporting computer systems for medical and dental groups. In 2000, he became an Adjunct Instructor in Math and Computer Sciences at Clackamas Community College, until he and his wife retired in 2015.
Murray passed away in his home in Clackamas, OR, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife, Sandy; his daughter, Christy and her husband, Jake; his son, Joseph; his grandson, Elijah; his brother, John Ahlquist and his wife, Betty; his sister-in-law, Janice Taylor; nephews, Frank Ahlquist, Matthew Ahlquist, Tim Taylor and Zak Taylor; nieces, Cathy Ahlquist and Kristin Rattini; and five great-nieces and great-nephews.
