Mary Jo Sycks

Mary Jo Sycks, 74, of Canby, OR, passed from this life on Friday, September 27th, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Jo was born on July 29th, 1950, in Coos Bay, Oregon to Alice and William Denny.

Jo was a vibrant, kind, witty, and generous spirit. Her one-of-a-kind personality resonated with anyone who ever met her. Jo loved her family and friends deeply. An avid traveler, she enjoyed visiting national parks, attending football and baseball games, and soaking up the sun on the beach. Rockaway Beach happened to be her favorite, and one that she visited often throughout her life.

Jo leaves behind her loving daughter Nicole (Cris) Opperman and son Zak LaMarche; her sisters Susan (Mike) DePaolo, Vicki (Phil) Obrist, Betsy (John) Keuscher, brother Bill (Karan) Denny; seven grandchildren: Hailey, Will, Sam, Zoey, Josie, Zak, Wyatt, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jo is preceded in death by her parents, Alice and William Denny, and her grandson, Rustyn Opperman.

A celebration of life will be held on October 4th from 1:00-4:00 pm in the TumWater Ballroom at 211 Tumwater Drive, in Oregon City, OR.
