Mary Joyce Mihalik

May 3, 1931 — November 1, 2022

Oregon City

Mary Joyce Mihalik passed away on November 1, 2022. Daughter of Earl and Florence Daley, Joyce was born in Youngstown, Ohio and grew up with her two sisters Diane and Dorothy. Joyce was married to Eugene “Gene” Mihalik for 58 years before his passing in 2010. They had 5 children (Colleen, Mark, Matt, Kathy, and Marnie), 5 grandchildren (Mark Jr, Mandy, Izzy, Johnny, and Leiny), and a great granddaughter (Macy). Together with her husband, they owned a flower shop in Boardman, OH for many years. Once their children were grown, they relocated to Northern VA for 15 years. Then in 2001, they moved to Oregon City, OR to be closer to family.

Joyce loved to travel, visiting Europe, the Caribbean, Central America, and Japan, but Hawaii was her favorite. She loved gardening, as well as visiting gardens around the world, including Canada’s Butchart Gardens, Tokyo Imperial Palace's East Gardens, and Keukenhof Tulip Gardens in Amsterdam. She especially enjoyed her own garden full of flowers, vegetables, birds, and butterflies. Joyce loved to cook, paint, needlepoint, play the piano, classical music, read, and support the arts.

Joyce will be placed to rest with her late husband, Gene, and her son, Matt, at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Portland, Oregon on December 2. A celebration of life will be held on December 3, starting at 2 pm at the Mihalik residence in Oregon City. She will be deeply missed by her family.
