Mary Kathleen Leahy Hendrickson-Hoff

June 5, 1936 - August 6, 2024

Mary Kathleen Leahy Hendrickson-Hoff, 88, of Lake Oswego, Oregon, passed from this life on August 6, 2024, and was laid to rest beside her parents at Mt. Calvary Cemetery on August 22, 2024.

Kathleen was born to George and Rita Leahy on June 5th, 1936, at St. Vincent's Hospital in Portland, Oregon. She was raised on the family homestead and flower farm as the second oldest alongside seven brothers.

Kathleen attended St. Mary's Cathedral and graduated from St. Mary's Academy in 1954. Upon graduation, she worked as a medical assistant and trained as an x-ray technician.

In 1958, while skiing with friends, Kathleen was introduced to Daniel Hendrickson, and they danced the night away at Timberline Lodge. Their romance quickly blossomed, and they married that fall at St. Pius Catholic Church in Portland. Over the next decade, their union was blessed with four daughters while residing in Lake Oswego.

Dan's career took them to Bay Village, Ohio in 1970 where they lived for seven years. The desire to be closer to family led them to Santa Rosa, California. They enjoyed their brief time in California until Dan's untimely passing in 1978. With the loving care of her brothers, Kathleen and the girls relocated back home to Portland in 1979.

Kathleen had amazing energy and was not one to ever sit idle. Gifted with impeccable style, she frequently designed and sewed her own fashionable wardrobe along with that of her four daughters who were often dressed in adorable, matching attire. Over the years, she took great pride in personally decorating, painting, wallpapering, and refinishing furniture for their homes. She made such an impression that friends and neighbors would ask for her help. This led to the birth of a successful wallpaper business with her dear friend, Karen Bloomfield, while in Ohio. After relocating to Santa Rosa, Kathleen's love of fashion inspired a career in retail at Rosenberg's department store. Once back in Portland, she enjoyed a career in office managerial positions beginning with Agoil Inc., where she met Charles Hoff through co-workers. Their romance grew into a committed marriage of 42 years. She also worked for Forum Properties, Columbia Sportswear, Windermere Realty, and CBRE, where she retired in 2019 at the age of 83.

Kathleen was graced with a remarkable work ethic and deep faith. She lived in the spirit of Padre Pio, always giving of herself generously. She was known for her timeless class, charm, and her unwavering commitment to her family whom she dearly cherished. Kathleen leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, and faith. Kathleen’s presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire and live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched.

Kathleen is survived by many devoted family members including her husband Charles Hoff, her children, Lisa and son-in-law Mark, Tina, Bridget and son-in-law Coby, Brenda and partner Michael, step-son Todd and daughter-in-law Linda, step-daughter Staci and partner Jeff, grandchildren, Monica, Marissa, Daniel, Lauren, Callum, Carson, Bergen, Olivia, and brothers Ken, Dennis and partner Melinda, Tom and wife Donna Mae, Larry and Mike along with many loving nieces, nephews and extended family.
