Louise Anne Schram was born in Oregon City, Oregon on July 8th, 1935, to Albert Henry Larsen and Agnes Bernadine Larsen. They lived in Oregon City and West Linn prior to moving to Estacada. She graduated Estacada High School in 1953 and went on to Oregon State College. She met Donald Schram in 1953 while Paul Schram was painting the Larsen home and Don was assisting his Dad. That was the beginning of a very long-lasting loving relationship/marriage of 69 years. After three attempts to set a wedding date, the fourth was successful on December 31st, 1955. Don was in the United States Air Force and moved from base to base every 18 months to 3 years. They were based at Castle AFB, Atwater, CA; Pinecastle AFB, Florida, Larson AFB, Moses Lake, WA; RAF Military Base, Prestwick, Scotland; Donaldson AFB, Greenville, South Carolina, Hunter AFB, Savannah, Georgia; Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands, Andrews AFB, Maryland; Vietnam, Saigon (not Louise); Forbes AFB, Topeka, Kansas; Langley AFB, Hampton, Virginia, and Andrews AFB, Maryland. You might say, a very moving lifestyle. Louise was always there to make it work for them. They met so many wonderful friends at each base. Each base had its own experiences, like getting to meet Elvis Presley in Scotland and get her picture taken with him or living on a very small island for 18 months.
After a 25-year career with the Unites States Air Force, in 1967 they decided to move back to Oregon to live. They selected a lovely home in Milwaukie, Oregon. Don went on to work for Pape at Portland Airport and Louise became a loan officer for Key Bank. She also decided to try and sell real estate, but decided that was not her cup of tea, because of the hours she had to keep.
Louise loved her yard and her roses. With Don's hard work and Louise's direction, they had the most beautiful yard (front and back) with many roses. She would nurture the roses with special care and would not let anyone else prune them. They were magnificent. Many people would stop as they drove by their house to admire the roses. She loved to entertain in the yard with her lovely furniture and joyful smile.
Louise and Don were great collectors. The collections are numerous and are displayed beautifully throughout their home. They started collecting the Department 56 Christmas houses and joined the Village Idiots collectors club. They were very active in the club with Louise holding many offices. They were also very involved with Air Force Sergeants' Association, of which Louise and Don held many offices.
Louise and Don have 6 nieces and 2 nephews. Because they were close, Carol and Tom's children, 3 nieces and 8 nephews were treated like their own children and grandchildren. Aunt Louise and Uncle Don are their very special Aunt and Uncle. She was always the life of they party. She loved to have fun and truly surprised everyone with her very touching gifts on special occasions. She was always thrilled to watch them open the package and see the joy that she had brought to them. She was very funny and had a marvelous laugh and giggle.
Louise is survived by her beloved husband, Donald; sister, Carol Brown (James); brother, Thomas Larsen; Sister-in-law, Patricia Schneider; nieces: Brianne Harris (Dershawn), Michell Morey (Justin), Wendy Brown Krupicka (Benjamin), Susan Vantis (Tom), Cindy Sulser (Dr.Carl), Jessica Smith; nephews, Destin Brown (Heather), Jason Schneider; 6 grandnieces; 5 grandnephews; Brandon and Brian Morey, Albert Krupicka, 7 great nephews, and 5 great nieces.
