Louis Mark Mattioda of Vancouver, Washington passed away on February 24th, 2023, at home. Surrounded by love, family and holding his daughter’s hand.
Louis, fondly known as Louie or Sweet Lou to some. He was born to Lucy and Louis Mattioda on May 21st, 1938 in Portland, Oregon. He had a passion for sports, speed and fitness as soon as he could walk. Louie lettered in football, track, and baseball. He graduated from Franklin High School in 1956. He later served in the United States Marine Corps for three years as an infantry corporal. Louie has a love of feeling alive and lived without fear. HE had a passion for speed cars and poker. Louie started drag racing in the 60’s being the first person to go 155mph in the ¼ mile. He owned various bars in the Portland area, including the first strip club on the east side of the city. While being a business owner, he began stock car racing in the late 70’s and through the 80’s. Louie won many body building competitions and never stopped working out. He played in the world series of poker 10 times and had the pleasure of being Willie Nelson’s poker partner for three days in Vegas.
Louie lived life without fear but with discipline and dedication to his goals. He loved deeply, played hard and made the world a better place. He will be greatly missed. I love you daddy.
