Kathleen Ann Cleary

Kathleen passed away surrounded by her loving family on October 2nd, 2024 following complications from a medical procedure. Kathleen was born in San Francisco, California in 1955 to Robert and Mary Kerrigan. She was the oldest of four siblings, Daniel Kerrigan, Kevin Kerrigan, and Mike Kerrigan. Kathleen moved to Portland, Oregon with her family when she was in middle school. She graduated grade school from St. John the Apostle in Oregon City, Oregon. She attended high school at La Salle in Milwaukie and went on from there to earn her bachelor’s degree from Portland State University in finance and accounting.

She married Daniel Cleary in 1979, and they had two sons, Timothy and Joshua, who they raised in the Portland area. Kathleen worked for the Archdiocese of Portland as the director of finance in the late 1980s and early 1990s. She next transitioned to the human resources industry and quickly rose through the HR ranks with Providence Health & Services. She had to medically retire in 2005 following ongoing chronic health issues. Throughout her life she remained very active within her church. Her boys attended Catholic school at St. John the Baptist, Christ the King, and La Salle which led to the formation of many life-long friendships. She volunteered for finance council, PTA, funeral planning, RCIA, and many other parish activities throughout her life.

A funeral mass will be held for Kathleen on Friday, October 25th at Holy Family Catholic Church in Portland. The mass will begin at 11am, preceded by a saying of the rosary at 10:30am.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Holy Family’s parish center fund, the Holy Family rosary makers, and/or the St. John the Apostle prayer shawl program.
