Flora was and will continue to be a blessing to our family and her friends. On Monday August 27th, our world lost a kind, wonderful, loving and generous soul. Flora will always be remembered as a true Lady and proud American. She will always be loved and treasured by family and friends.
Flora was born in Superior, Wyoming, the daughter of Viola and Max Tosolin. She graduated from Superior High School, class of 1950. Many friends today will remember her as their Girl Scout Leader, Troop 410. She loved and treasured all the time and energy spent with her "girls" guiding them and playing with them. During her time in Superior, she was the school secretary, working for the superintendent. Here she enjoyed every day interactions with the students and staff of SHS. Fifty years have gone by and that mutual love and respect has endured; a true testament to her character and a life well-lived.
During Flora's years of work on the Apollo Space Program, through North American Rockwell, she attained the highest security clearance Rockwell issued as head of Security over the storage and records for the Apollo Program. We laughed, as we agreed, that was "a darn good accomplishment" for a shy girl of Italian immigrants growing up in a small mining town in Wyoming.
Flora moved to Portland. She immediately volunteered at the Gresham Senior Center as head of the Travel Dept. For 15 years the center benefited from her organizational skills and expertise, which resulted in many fun times for seniors in this area. Her work was honored by the Gresham Chamber of Commerce and by the Senior Center.
Today we are saying goodbye as our Heavenly Father, who shared her with us, has now taken her home. Her guardian angel whisked her away, wrapped safely within those heavenly wings. She is now sharing in joyous company of the Blessed Virgin Mary and her mother Viola.
We love you dearest Flora. Forever we shall miss you. Forever we will be thankful for precious shared times and memories we were privileged to share with you.
