Fr. Bruce Brown was born April 20, 1936and died the evening of Nov. 2, 2018.
He was the third child of nine born to Jack W. Brown and Anne M. Farley Brown.
He attended grade school at St. John the Baptist and St. Ignatius.
High School - Central Catholic.
Seminary: Mount Angel and St. Thomas
Oregon Parishes: Associate pastor St. Matthews - Hillsboro - 1963-1968
St. John Fisher -Portland -1968-1972
Chaplian: United States Air Force 1972-1994 retiring with the rank of Full Colonel U.S.A.F.
He worked with Father Joe Neuville for two years at St. Johns
Ministry after Air Force: Pastor St. the Baptist - Milwaukie, OR. 1996-2000
Pastor Sacred Heart - Portland, OR. 2002-2013
During his military service he was stationed at the following places:
Florida, Washington, Utah, Fairbanks,Alaska, Texas (2 times), Alabama, California (2 times)
Thailand, Okinawa, Korea, Greece, Saudia Arabia.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents and the following siblings:
Sister Eileen Brown SNJM, Jack W. Brown Jr., sister MaryRose Brown Broadhurst, Russell Brown, and Alex Brown.
Siblings alive: Eugene J. Brown, Sr. Sally A.Brown SNJM, Richard C. Brown. and nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
Fr. Bruce has been noted to have been a very prayerful person and devoted to his priesthood, Friends and family appreciated his thought provoking sermons and generosity to those in need. Many of his friends have shared stories of his throwing great parties especially for St. Patrick's Day, Christmas time - leaving his tree up until early February - and other special occasions.
During these last 10 years Bruce has dealt with many health issues - especially Parkinson's disease. He was grateful to his many doctors.and medical personnel .
