Christine Louise Kirchgessner passed away November 22, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was 74. Chris was born November 30, 1947, in Portland, Oregon, to Joseph and Irene (Snodgrass) Fiorini. In 1965, she graduated from Marshall High School and later attended and graduated from Western Business College. She went on to work as an Administrative Assistant at the Oregonian Newspaper until having children. As her children grew, she went back to work for Proto Tool in Milwaukie, Oregon, where she met and went on to marry Edward Charles Kirchgessner. They spent 25 happy years together. Chris and Ed lived in Wilbraham, Massachusetts and Charlotte, North Carolina before retiring to Vancouver, Washington prior to Ed’s passing on January 5, 2010. Chris loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her seven grandchildren who adored her. She is survived by her children, Maria Petruzelli de Sanchez (Cesar) of Vancouver, Jennifer Newman (Shane) and Andrea Petruzelli of Tualatin, Mark Kirchgessner and Lisa Kirchgessner both of Seattle, grandchildren, Will, Emma, Sal, Natalie, Maxwell, Stefano, and Cristina, brother Walter Cate, of Molalla, and her sisters Gail Pickard of Vancouver and Sharon Schaper of Portland. Visitation will be held from 4:30 pm to 7:30 p.m. Monday, December 5, 2022, at Gethsemani Catholic Cemetery and Funeral Home, Happy Valley, OR. A Rosary at 10:00 AM and a Mass at 11:00 am will be held on December 6, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Vancouver, WA and Chris will be laid to rest at 2:30 pm at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Portland, OR. In leu of flowers, the family asks for remembrances in Chris’s name be made to the Ray Hickey Hospice House in Vancouver or to the American Diabetes Association.
