Chom Sun Kim Elizabeth Barnett

Chom Sun Kim Elizabeth Barnett was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She passed away peacefully at home June 29, 2021 with family by her side.
Chom Sun was born to Tae Kyu and Hung Son Kim on December 26, 1938 in Kyongsangnam-do, South Korea and immigrated to the United States on December 5, 1968 and proudly obtained her U.S. Citizenship on May 13, 2002. She worked at Emanuel Hospital as a CNA for 27 years, while simultaneously working at St. Joseph's Nursing Home and raising her four children: Maria, Wy-lee, Ida and John and three granddaughters Nicole, Brya and Jade and two grandsons, Abraham and Benjamin.
Chom Sun cherished her time spent with family. She enjoyed gardening and had an amazing way of nurturing the earth and helping her vegetables and flowers grow and flourish, and was an avid reader. Some of her favorite books being, Anna Karenina, Five Smooth Stones, The Red Tent, and Dr. Zhivago. She was a devoted member of the Catholic Church. She was the heart and soul of her family and brought warmth and kindness to all those she encountered. In her final days, Chom Sun regularly expressed love for all her family and friends, and enjoyed watching some of her favorite tv shows (Merlin and Young and The Restless). She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her.
A service will be held for Chom Sun Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at Gethsemani Catholic Funeral Home, Happy Valley, Oregon.
Survived by her former spouse Wiley; Maria (daughter), Wy-Lee (son), Ida (daughter), John (son); eight grandchildren: Nicole, Abraham, Benjamin, Brya, Jade, Clayton, Miyako and Aleena and two great-grandchildren: Jaasiel and Joshua, and great-great grandson, Meechie.
