Charlene Marie Dauenhauer, aged 84, of Vancouver, Washington, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2024. Born on November 6, 1939, in Yakima, Charlene led a life marked by dedication to her community, a passion for teaching, and a love for the simple pleasures of life.
She touched many lives through her career as a middle school teacher and gymnastics coach, where her commitment to her students went beyond the classroom and gymnasium.
She coached the David Douglas High School gymnastics team to win the state championship three years in a row. She enjoyed playing fast pitch softball on the Erv Lind Florist’s World Championship Team. Charlene’s sense of humor, creativity, and generous spirit were a beacon of light to all who knew her.
An avid fisherwoman and gardener, Charlene found joy in the tranquility of nature and the thrill of the catch. Her creative talents were also expressed though the care she took nurturing her plants and the adventurous spirit that occasionally led her to the excitement of casinos.
Charlene leaves behind her loving wife, Karen, and her brothers, Daniel and Tony, and sister-in-law, Carol. She was greeted in death by her mother, Fern, and father, Ambrose.
In Charlene’s memory, and in recognition of her love for animals, the family suggests charitable contributions be made to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, 5001 Angel Canyon Road, Kanab, UT 84741 or at https://bestfriends.org/donate/memory.
Her kind heart and enduring spirit will be dearly missed.
