In Loving Memory of Alina Janina Szczepkowski
January 4, 1937 - May 19, 2019
Alina Janina Szczepkowski, née Zygadło was born in Władysławów, Poland on January 4, 1937 to the late Jan Zygadło and Weronika Zygadło, née Łagowska. Alina was the eldest of four children and grew up with her younger sister, Anna, and twin brothers, Paweł and Piotr Zygadło. Alina attended school in Poland and worked as a teacher and school Principal. In 1970 she emigrated to Zambia - a move which began her journey around the world. In 1975 she moved to Tenby, Wales where she lived and worked for the next 31 years. During the late 1980s she travelled to Japan several times to visit her daughter and family and in 2006 she joined them in Colorado and finally in 2010 Oregon. Alina loved to garden, sew, knit, and above all - cook. Her Polish recipes are well known to her family and friends and her rose garden in Tenby was always a neighborhood attraction. Alina is survived in the USA by her daughter Ewa Chomka-Campbell (Joseph Campbell) and her grandchildren Joshua Campbell (Katie Szymanowski) and Hana Campbell (TJ Daniel). In Poland Alina is survived by her sister, Anna Chomka, and the children of her three siblings, Robert Chomka, Katarzyna Szostak, Karol Zygadło, Tomasz Zygadło, and Andżej Zygadło. After battling cancer for 18 months Alina passed on Sunday, May 19, 2019 in her home surrounded by her family. We find comfort and strength in knowing that she is with her Creator, resting in eternal peace, surrounded by her loved ones who passed on before her. Until we meet again. Pokuj Jej Duszy.
