The options and costs for traditional casket interment or entombment vary by type and location. Options include graves, lawn crypts and mausoleum. Green burial options may be available in the fall of 2011. Purchase of your cemetery property does not include Service Fees, Memorialization and Interment Containers, an appropriate or required interment container and optionally, some type of memorialization which are discussed and explained in the appropriate sections of our options and decisions page.
Purchase of a burial plot is actually a purchase of a right to be buried in a particular space. Ownership of the land stays with the cemetery and there is no actual transfer of a deed or land title. The fee for the use of a burial plot varies depending on location and number of people being placed. Prices range from $900 to $4,800. Graves in the sections that allow for upright monuments or areas with significant views tend to be more expensive. Graves require the use of an outer burial container generally made from concrete. These containers are required to keep the earth from settling on the grave.
Traditional upright sections are still available at Mt. Calvary. |
Flat headstone sections became the norm starting in the 1940s. |

Above ground entombment in our mausoleum offers a setting that is usually more protected from the weather. Prices vary based on crypt height and location, with eye-level crypts being the most expensive. Prices range from $1,700 to $7,600 for a single and $3,200 to $16,500 for a double. Many people are surprised to find that entombment in a crypt can be more cost effective than ground burial. This is partially true because no concrete interment container is required. Mt. Calvary offers a variety of mausoleum space but inventory is more limited at Gethsemani.
